HATTIESBURG, Miss. -- Softball senior shortstop Kristin Chaney was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI second team announced by CoSIDA. Chaney played and started all 55 games this season, batting .267 with 39 hits, including a double, two triples and one home run. She had 23 runs scored, led the team in stole bases and had a 967 field percentage. She has nine multiple hit games. She was named to the K-Club Invitational all-tournament team. The Little Rock, Miss., native received two Conference USA Academic Medals. She was on the Dean's List four times and the Athletics Director's Honor Roll. She was named to the C-USA All-Academic team in basketball, ESPN The Magazine All-District VI first team and was C-USA Co-Athlete of the Year for women's basketball in 2006-07. The Lady Eagles concluded the 2008 season with a 25-30 record, falling to UCF, 3-2, in the opening round of the Conference USA Softball Championship.
